Before the countdown starts...

Close your eyes, look deep inside of you and make a wish...

If doesn't matter how crazy it could seem ...

Finding the true love in Århus

Some people believe that it's possible to find the recipe of love in a book

I don't think so, but I'm sure that could be helpful to follow some guidelines

To start, you need to look outside...

...and follow your heart...

...even if you are not sure of the final destination

Never surrender, be constant and follow it all the way through the narrow streets...

Don't be afraid, cause even in the darkest night, millions of stars will light your way...

...and they will guide your steps...

You may find some blind alleys in this travel...

...but then you have to remember that there is always a way out...

...and next time, you will know which way to follow

Aarhusian Christmas nights...

The sun doesn't work too much these days...

...the night gets longer and the moon takes over the task of lighting the city...

While some people feel even more confortable moving in the dark...

...with slow and quiet movements like a cat...

...others need to decorate the house with thousands of lights to feel protected and safe...

Darkness or light, whatever you prefer, the important is never to lose contact with your guide star..

Århus by night

One of the things I love most from Århus is its dark sky at night, that let you enjoy the view of the stars even from the city center

When the days become shorter, Aarhusians love to light the cold winter nights with candles...

...but when everyone goes to bed, the only lights alive are the neon ones, that conquer the city in silence...
...winning the battle against the souls of the Spanish soldiers that long time ago gave its name to  a place called Spanien...

Quick guide for the Aarhusian "livsnyder" (Danish for hedonist)

Start enjoying good Japanish food,  visit the art galleries, music venues and cafés hidden in the half-timbered houses of Vestergade...

...explore the cosy boutiques and try the "chocolate sushi" in Volden...

... get inspired by the green art of Klostergade...

...buy some colourful designs "made in Århus" at Store Torv...

...travel back in time tasting "viking bread" and party at night in the oldest street of town: Mejlgade...

...and last but not least, don't forget to say good night to the city from the top of the rainbow!

Uhyggelig (scary) Århus

Denmark is the land of "hygge", that is the art of creating a cosy atmosphere, even when it's cold and dark outside the window...

But tonight is different, as Halloween is the night of the "uhygge", the horror...

The Celts believed that in nights like this, the souls of the dead came back to visit our homes, and they used to leave food outside the door, so the evil spirits didn't come in...

Can you imagine if that could be true? They say that if you dig a whole in the ground of the old Århus, it's quite probable that you will find some skeletons...

Recently archeologists from Moesgaard Museum were working on an old cemetery, in the same place where a closter was located during the Middle Ages. They are going to build apartments on it...

Can you imagine if the Celts were right and the souls of the dead came back every Halloween night to "hygge" with the new inhabitants?

Happy "uhyggelig" Halloween!!

Autumn sun...

Neverending sunsets...

...this is what makes the Danish autumn so magical...

...the golden sunlight makes the trees burn in red colours...

...as the falling leaves design ephemeral carpets...

...and the sky cover our dreams with the most beautiful paintings...

Aarhusian fairy tales...

When I was a little boy, I loved reading fairy tales, those amazing stories about brave knights...
... who were not afraid to fight to the death against huge dragons

In these stories knights were normally accompanied by their faithful dogs...

...that always followed them on their great mission to save beautiful princesses...

...who patiently waited to be rescued from a convent...

...or from a tower...

The story normally ended with a grateful queen...

...who let the knight marry her daughter and celebrate a big party at the palace

But I must confess that my favourite story was about a talking rabbit...

...that loved to make mad tea parties...

...with their crazy friends...
....wearing elegant hats...
...in picturesque houses like these
